Jarrett Bay recently contracted the custom construction of Hull #65, a 64′ custom sportfish. Hull 65’s soon-to-be four-time Jarrett Bay boat owner, Walt Kuhn, is excited to share the details of his next hard-charging Contango. (more…)
From a piece in The Field magazine, the following article discusses the trials and tribulations of conquering blue marlin and what it takes to land the big fish, from Captain Brower of Contango’s perspective. (more…)
We are very proud to have taken second place finish in the Cap Cana Classic along with being crowned the title holder of the first ever Dominican Billfish Triple Header, where we racked up an astonishing 4,100 points throughout the three legs of this new series! (more…)
I had the pleasure of fishing with Capt. Daryl and Super Mario on Contango in Punta Cana. All I can say is what an amazing day. After getting picked up at the resort and a short drive to the marina he gave me a quick tour of the boat. I was somewhat in awe a 53′ Jarret with twin 1500 hp diesels that you could eat off of. Sportfish boat Prime Time was undergoing repairs, so we carried the family and crew aboard Contango for a half day afternoon. These young brothers caught a double header of blue and white marlin! The 8 year old caught the blue marlin and his 10 year old brother caught the white. Another great day fishing the Dominican Republic with some experienced anglers! (more…)
One of our recent fishing groups, led by John “JP” Pullaro with United Hoist Equipment, Inc., had a special request – help children in the local community while visiting the Domincan Republic.
After a few phone calls and guidance from Mrs. Anna-Lisa Bracett, one morning before fishing we took a bumpy ride to the little Juanillo School, a modest two-room school house with 40 students ranging from 4-14 in age. Once JP delivered his message about John 3:16 , interpreted by Mrs. Anna-Lisa to the children, we handed out toiletries, toys and John 3:16 pamphlets in Spanish. We also distribted John 3:16 soccer balls and bracelets that he had packed in two huge suitcases for the children.
I don’t think a lot of school work was retained that day, and honestly our day was made whether we caught a fish or not! Interestingly, our first bite when we got out later that morning was an 85lb. white marlin, one of the largest I have ever landed – so big that it had two grown remoras on it!
We were delighted to welcome aboard a group of ladies for their first offshore adventure. The catch included a white Marlin and several nice mahi. It was a blast to have Susan, Amy, Leslie and Erica fishing with us at Cap Cana and helping to make our good looking Jarrett Bay custom 53 even more beautiful!
Pretty work by the boys of Contango, releasing a blue marlin while fishing off the Dominican Republic!
A fun end to the tournament. After taking the lead on day 1 going 2 for 2 on blue marlin, we slid back a couple of spots day 2 and entered day 3 in tight competition with several teams. Contango finished the tournament strong with a 2nd place on time, having caught our last fish about an hour after the 1st place winner: Shoe. Congrats to Devin, Johnny and the crew. Great job Contango and to Captain Daryl who captained his 600th Atlantic Blue Marlin today!
